Angel Cabrera of Argentina has won on the PGA Tour Champions for the first time, earning a two-shot victory over South Korea's KJ Choi at the latest tournament in Boca Raton, Florida.

Cabrera, 55, led from start to finish sharing the first-round lead with four others before pulling ahead by two on the second round.

He shot a 1-under-par 71 in the third and final round to finish the tournament at 11-under par.

Cabrera spent time in prison between 2021 and 2023 on charges of assault, including threatening two of his ex-girlfriends.

The former Masters and US Open champion will return to Augusta National this coming week to play in the Masters for the first time since his convictions.

"It's very emotional after everything that I've gone through the last couple years," Cabrera said after his victory.

"So being here to have these chances again and win again for me is very much. And obviously it was a hard battle out there.

"Right now, I want to enjoy this," Cabrera said.

"The Masters I'm going to be walking hole by hole, but I want to enjoy this right now."

South Africa's Retief Goosen (68) finished third at 8 under at the inaugural event.

Thomas Bjorn of Denmark (68) and Joe Durant (69) tied for fourth at 7 under.
