An Dunedin man has been charged for threatening an Islamic place of worship in Wellington.

The Wellington Islamic Centre has resumed activities today, after a threat was posted online.

Police said the 18-year-old is charged with causing harm by posting digital communication and will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Dean Pearce would not rule out further charges.

"Police would like to thank those who contacted police with information regarding the threat, which allowed us to quickly identify and locate the alleged offender," he said.
