Part of Auckland Airport has been evacuated in response to what a staff member described as an incident.
The evacuation began just before 4pm Thursday, an airport spokesperson said, and people were able to return to the terminal just before 5pm.
"The domestic terminal was evacuated in line with safety procedures, after the activation of the fire alarm. Airport Emergency Services and Fire and Emergency New Zealand responded and re-set the system," the spokesperson said in a statement.
"We know travel delays can be frustrating and Auckland Airport thanks customers for their patience and understanding."
On Tuesday, a Blenheim to Auckland Air New Zealand flight was diverted to New Plymouth and grounded after passengers noticed fuel smells in the cabin, that turned out to be from an item in a passenger's carry-on luggage.
