Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on Dowse Drive, Lower Hutt, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Police said they were called to the scene about 7.15pm on Sunday.
A pedestrian is reportedly in serious condition.
The road is closed, with diversions in place. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.
