Results have been coming through for Nauru's general election on Saturday.

The Nauru Electoral Commission has released results online for seats around the parliamentary table.

Among those elected is incumbent president David Adeang in the Ubenide constituency, alongside Reagan Aliklik, Russ Kun and Ranin Akua.

However, Adeang is not automatically back in as president - that will be decided by the new parliament.

In Mening, Tawaki Kam, Jesse Jeremiah and Lionel Aingimea have been elected.

In Aiwo, Delvin Thoma and Rennier Gadabu have claimed the two available seats, while Charmaine Scotty and Isabella Dageago have been elected as representatives of Yaren.

In Buada, Shadlog Bernicke and Bingham Agir have been elected, while in Anetan, Timothy Ika and Marcus Stephen have won the seats.

Boe constituency has elected Asterio Appi and Wanganeen Emiu, and Maverick Eoe and Pyon Deiye have been elected in Anabar.

The Nauru parliament is made up of 19 members in multi-seat constituencies - 14 administrative districts grouped into eight constituencies.

Voters were also asked about increasing the country's parliamentary term from three years to four.

Parliament had passed an amendment bill to extend the term, but it also required two-thirds of people's votes to be in favour for it to become law.

In the referendum, 3714 people voted yes, while 4601 voted no - 44.7 percent in favour.
