Patients with dengue-like illnesses have not yet had laboratory confirmation of the dengue infection. A dengue outbreak was declared in Samoa on 19 April.

In a first of its kind in Samoa, Apia Broadcasting channel TV3 is moving its station completely online because it can no longer afford to broadcast traditionally.

In its latest surveillance report, the country's health ministry says the dengue-like illness count remains high.

Samoans are not yet eligible to apply for Australia's new visa category that allows skilled workers and their families to apply for permanent residence.

The two-year initiative is set to support 12,000 people in disaster-prone communities in Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa.

All eligible Samoan students will be fully funded, in an effort to meet current doctor shortages.
