Black Caps allrounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season after picking up a groin injury while playing for the Gujarat Titans on Friday.
An IPL statement said Phillips had "returned to New Zealand", with Gujarat yet to name a replacement.
Phillips had not started any of his team's six matches and was only on the field as a substitute fielder against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The injury came when he fielded a ball and threw it smartly into the wicketkeeper, prompting Phillips to slump to the ground in pain.

Meanwhile, there is also an injury cloud over Black Caps pace bowler Lockie Ferguson, who picked up a hip injury while bowling for the Punjab Kings against Hyderabad on Sunday.
Ferguson was only two balls into his spell in the second innings when he pulled up and had to be helped to leave the field.
The 33-year-old had only just recovered from a hamstring injury which ruled him out of New Zealand's campaign at the Champions Trophy ODI tournament in February.
