Scotland will play Samoa at Auckland's Eden Park - rather than in Apia - for the final match of their three-game tour in July.

Matches against the Māori All Blacks in Whangārei on 5 July and Fiji in Suva on 12 July had already been announced.

The Scots will return to New Zealand for their final stop on Friday, 18 July when they face Samoa for the first time since the teams met in the pool phase of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

In a media release, Lakapi Samoa chief executive Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun welcomed the fixture although he said it was "disappointing" it wouldn't be staged in Apia.

"Facing Scotland at Eden Park is an incredible opportunity for our team and Manu Samoa supporters," he said.

"While it's disappointing not to host the match in Samoa, especially given the improvements made to Apia Park, we have to move forward.

"This test match still allows us to showcase the talent and strength of Samoan rugby on one of the sport's most iconic stages."

Scotland haven't played a test against the All Blacks in New Zealand since 2000, with the last 10 meetings all played in Edinburgh.

Coach Gregor Townsend welcomed a tour in which his players will be exposed to the New Zealand rugby culture.

"Spending time in a country with such a deep rugby culture is a unique and special experience," he said.

"There are players and coaches within our group who have never been there before and I know they are looking forward to the opportunity as well as the challenges we will face on the tour.

"Playing against the Māori All Blacks will be a proper introduction to New Zealand rugby and they will provide a strong test, especially in the contact area.

"Fiji have shown over the past few seasons that they are a rising force in world rugby and will relish the chance of playing a Six Nations country at home.

"Finally, Samoa are one of the most physical teams in world rugby with how hard they hit in the tackle. Playing at Eden Park is a wonderful opportunity for both teams and it will be a great setting to end our tour of the South Pacific."
