The tourists won the toss and chose to bowl first, restricting the hosts to 93 for 9 from their 20 overs, with Fran Jonas taking three wickets.
The White Ferns then chased down the victory target with eight balls to spare to take a 2-1 lead in the five match series.
Maddy Green top scored for New Zealand with an unbeaten 49.
The White Ferns had been struggling at 11 for 3 before Green steadied their innnigs.
New Zealand won the second game, with the West Indies winning the first.
Game four is on Thursday morning.
