After deciding to bat first in Mumbai the New Zealanders made 343 for 9 from their 50 overs with both Ross Taylor and Tom Latham both scoring centuries before retiring.

Taylor, batting at four made 102 off 83 balls, while Latham was at five and scored 108 off 97 balls.

It's a good sign for Taylor who failed to reach 50 in the five one-dayers in India last year.... in his innings today featured several glorious cover drives and perfectly-timed square-cuts. Taylor muscled 15 boundaries all around the ground, including an inside-out six over long-off.

At the top of the order Martin Guptill scored 32, although he was dropped three times, while his opening partner Colin Munro made 26.

Captain kane Williamson made just one.

In reply the hosts were all out for 310 in the 48th over, with spinner Mitchell Santner taking three wickets for the tourists.

Seamer Tim Southee took two wickets.

The Black caps had 15 players involved in the game and bowled eleven of them.... only eleven could bat and eleven could field.

The Black Caps now prepare for the opening one-dayer against India in Mumbai on Sunday.

The Tour consists of three ODI's and three T20 internationals.
