A Gisborne man is recovering in hospital with a broken leg after being trapped metres up a willow tree he was trimming.
A branch he had cut split and pinned his leg against the main trunk of the tree, and it was an hour and a half before he was rescued.
The accident happened on a lifestyle block yesterday afternoon.
The 51-year-old is reported to be in a stable condition.
