Parliament's Privileges Committee has met to discuss Te Pāti Māori leading a haka in last year's Treaty Principles Bill first reading.

The haka interrupted the vote count at the end of the first reading, disrupting the proceedings. The bill was later voted down at its second reading, with only ACT in support.

The Committee will seek feedback from Te Pāti Māori before meeting again next Wednesday afternoon.

Committee chair Judith Collins said they could not make a final decision until then. She divulged little else.

"Don't want to predict anything, really, other than the sun rises the morning, it sets it in the afternoon," she said.

After next week's meeting, presuming a decision is made, the report would be made public in Parliament, including recommendations for any punishments.

Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer on Wednesday said the party was expecting "unprecedented sanctions and punishment", but would not back down.

Collins said a separate matter of the party posting a leaked draft report from the committee on Instagram - thereby breaching the rules of Parliamentary privilege - had not been referred to the committee, so was not being considered.

Te Pāti Māori apologised for the post, saying it was a mistake made "internally".
