Paid firefighters have withdrawn their latest strike notice, but have issued another for a week later.
Professional Firefighters Union and Fire and Emergency are in a long-running dispute.
The union said the two sides have met for mediation after the fire agency applied for facilitation.
It said it will no longer strike at the end of this month, but has indicated a strike notice for 7 November, which it will consider withdrawing depending on talks.
Fire and Emergency did not turn up to the last bargaining talks, saying it wanted an earlier strike notice withdrawn first.
The union said at the time it wouldn't do that unless there was a revised offer.
