Police are still searching for a man they have advised the public not to approach, that they believe could be involved in the suspicious death of a woman in Pahiatua.

The woman was found dead at a home in Pahiatua, near a college on Arthur Street, in the lower North Island town on Wednesday.

On Thursday, police found a vehicle which had been taken from the woman's home, unoccupied at the Blue and Green Lakes Lookout on Tarawera Road.

Police said they were interested in any suspicious activity or sightings of a man aged 40-50, with a solid build that may have been in the Tarawera Road area from 15 October.

"It is not clear whether this person is still in the area or in nearby areas," a police spokesperson said.

Anyone who saw a man matching the description, was warned "do not approach them" and call 111 immediately.
