A man facing four charges of assaulting a three-month-old child has pleaded not guilty in Hutt Valley District Court on Monday.

The 23-year-old man was arrested in July after a baby girl was admitted to Hutt Hospital with multiple fractures in the previous month.

The man did not speak when he appeared in court today - his not guilty plea was conveyed by counsel.

Judge Sacha Nepe remanded the man on bail to reappear later in the year.

Lawyers for the crown did not oppose the continuation of the man' interim name suppression until his next appearance.
