Police have arrested five youth aged between 12 and 14 after an aggravated robbery attempt in Glen Eden, Auckland.
The youth attempted to rob a Glen Eden superette at 6:45am on Tuesday.
However, police said the superette owner "pulled the doors" and the "group abandoned their attempt".
Inspector Kelly Farrant, Waitematā West area prevention manager said the group then left the Kaurilands Road store in a stolen car, which she said was reported to the police in Henderson minutes later.
She said the offenders then got out of the car and fled.
"However, a police dog handler tracked them to a nearby property."
The youth will be referred to Youth Aid for attempted aggravated robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
