One person has been arrested for assault in The Square in Palmerston North on Sunday afternoon, while police are looking for another person who kicked a squad car.
Police were called to an incident at The Square at about 2.30pm.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and scheduled to appear in Palmerston North District Court on Thursday.
St John said they transported one patient to Palmerston North Hospital in a minor condition.
A protest was being held at the same location, but it was not clear whether either the offender or the victim were a part of that protest.
Meanwhile, a police car in the area was also kicked at about 2.55pm, denting the door.
Police said they were carrying out enquiries to locate the person responsible. They confirmed that person was not part of the protest.
