Motorists have captured "appalling behaviour" of a driver who was allegedly more than four times over the legal alcohol driving limit.
The 23-year-old man was seen weaving across State Highway 29, narrowly avoiding multiple collisions with cars and large trucks.
In a Facebook post, police praised motorists for alerting them to "this appalling behaviour", reported at lunchtime on Thursday, 24 July.
"Police were nearby when the call came in and we were able to stop the vehicle and breath test the driver," Waikato East Area Commander Inspector Mike Henwood said.
"The breath test showed this driver was more than four times the legal limit."
The man is due to appear in Tokoroa District Court today charged with breath alcohol over 400 mcg/litre of breath and driving with a suspended licence.
People who see illegal or dangerous behaviour on the roads, were asked to call 111 if it's happening immediately, or make a report via 105 if it's after the fact.
