One person is dead after a crash on State Highway 12 in Northland.
Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred around 1.30pm on Wednesday, west of Gallie Road near Matakohe.
The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination.
"An investigation is now underway into the circumstances of the crash," police said in a statement on Wednesday evening.
State Highway 12 has now been reopened.
