Fire investigators are expected at a commercial building in Wellington that went up in flames overnight.

Seven fire crews were called to the premises on Glover Street in Ngauranga shortly before 1am on Monday.

Fire and Emergency shift manager Chris Dalton said it doesn't appear anyone was in the building at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

He said the call-out included a big-ladder truck and a specialist breathing apparatus (BA) team.

Dalton said the building wasn't a write-off, with the blaze contained to one of three units.

He said one crew remained on site damping down hot spots, with fire investigators arriving on site later on Monday.
