A person has died after a truck hit a parked car in the rural Waikato town Putāruru this morning.
Police said they were called to the crash on State Highway 1 near the intersection with Sholson Street just after 7am Friday.
"The truck driver was unresponsive when emergency services arrived at the crash scene," a police spokesperson said.
"Medical attention was immediately provided but sadly he could not be revived."
The road remains partially closed and motorists should continue to take alternative routes where possible.
