The deluge from ex-tropical Cyclone Tam has helped to relieve a bit of pressure on Auckland's water supply.
Watercare said the dams have received a 2 percent top up over the last four days.
However, total dam storage is sitting just under 65 percent, below the historical average of 73.3 percent.
Metservice said parts of Auckland received 200 milimetres of rain, more than a month's worth, when the former cyclone hit from Wednesday till Monday.
The average April rainfall for Auckland ranges between 80 and 150mm.
Meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane said Auckland Airport got nearly a month's worth of rain between Friday and Sunday when 75mm fell compared to an April long-term monthly average of 79mm.
She said the localised nature of thunderstorms meant some nearby places got the same - if not more - in just a matter of hours.
In Northland, between 180 and 260mm of rain fell across the region for the duration of the ex -tropical cyclone.
Makgabutlane said the rainfall in Kaikohe surpassed the monthly average of 136 mm, reaching 151mm between Wednesday and Thursday, with 200mm falling between Wednesday to Monday.
Meanwhile Whangārei got a total of 189mm of rain for the duration of the storm and more than a month's worth of rain in one day on Thursday when 101mm fell compared to April's average of 96mm.
