One person has died after a crash on State Highway 5 in Bay of Plenty.
The single vehicle crash between Galaxy Rd and Barker Rd was reported at 3.50pm on Tuesday, police said.
Police said the sole occupant of the car died at the scene.
State Highway 5 remained closed while the Serious Crash Unit conduct a scene examination.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
