One of Auckland's busiest streets was disrupted on Wednesday afternoon after a fire at an apartment building shut down part of the road.
Fire and Emergency Northern shift manager Ryan Geen said they received a report of smoke pouring from a two-story apartment on Karangahape Road just before 2pm.
He said when crews arrived at the scene they found a fire inside a second-floor apartment and that smoke had reached the stairwell.
The fire was extinguished by about 2:40pm and crews were still working to clear the building of smoke as of 3:30pm.

Six fire trucks, two ladder trucks, and a specialist command unit attended.
A fire investigator was still determining the cause.
No injuries had been reported.
An Auckland Transport spokesperson said the road closed while crews responded which meant some buses had to detour.
They said the road has since re-opened and buses have resumed their normal routes.
