A fatal fire in Ashburton in the early hours of Sunday is not considered to be suspicious.
Emergency services were called to the blaze on Glassey Drive, Ashburton at about 12.45am Sunday morning.

Police said the deceased was found inside the building and that there were no other people unaccounted for.
Police and Fire investigators had now completed a scene examination and determined the fire was not suspicious.

A neighbour to the property, who asked not to be named, said she was woken in the middle of the night by two men who knocked on her bedroom window to alert her to the fire, and warn her she might need to evacuate.
"It was damn scary. The flames were high, and there was a lot of smoke and a lot of sparks."
