Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a man in Pukekohe late last year.
Donnie Houben, who was 48, was found dead at a gang associated property on Times Place on 30 December.
Police have been treating the death as suspicious, but findings from a pathologist now indicate Houben was assaulted.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright is urging anybody with information to come forward.
"We believe there are people out in the community that have further information about those involved in Donne's death," she said in a statement.
"I'm calling on those people to do the right thing and speak up to help hold those responsible to account."
