Roads are closed in Loburn, North Canterbury after a crash involving a motorbike left one person dead.
Police said they are still at the scene of the fatal two-vehicle crash at the Waimakariri intersection of Birch Hill Road and Yaxleys Road.
Police said emergency services responded to reports of the crash around 1pm on Saturday.
One person was located in a critical condition but was unable to be resuscitated and died at the scene.
The police serious crash unit has conducted a scene examination and enquiries are ongoing.
The road remains closed, but should reopen shortly, police said.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
