The search is on in Wellington's Upper Hutt for the driver of a stolen truck.
Wellington police said officers were called to reports of a truck being stolen from Queen St in Upper Hutt just before 2pm on Thursday.
A police spokespeson said officers did not chase the truck due to the way it was being drive, but it was later spotted travelling south on Wainuiomata Rd.
Locals in the area said they had seen up to eight police cars heading over the hill towards Wainuiomata at high speed.
The police spokesperson said police were still trying to find the truck and driver.
