A woman who was hit by a car near Gisborne last night has died.
The accident happened at Makauri about 9.30pm.
The woman, in her mid 20s, was taken to Gisborne Hospital then on to Waikato Hospital, but has died from her injuries.
Police said an investigation into the death was under way.
