When Deftone’s Chi Cheng was left comatose in a 2008 car crash, the Sacramento alt-metal outfit found a way forward when they called in friend and ally, Sergio Vega, from hardcore band Quicksand.
Chi Cheng passed away in 2013, and Deftones’ just-released album Gore marks their first release since Chi’s death.
Sergio checks in with Sam Wicks from his East Coast base to explain the band’s bicoastal work flow.
