Kimbra shot to stardom as Gotye’s duet partner in Somebody That I Used To Know, a viral hit in 2011.
The song won an armload of awards - including the Grammy for Record Of The Year- and made both Gotye, and Hamilton born singer Kimbra household names.
Since then, Kimbra’s earned a reputation for her architectural outfits, kinetic performances, and vocal acrobatics.
She says of her sound -
"It's hard to put a genre to the music. I think we often like to ride between a lot of genres so... We've kind of had 'prog-pop' quite a few times, which suggests that we're progressing the genre maybe somehow."
Kimbra’s second album The Golden Echo came out this week - Nick Atkinson welcomes Kimbra into our Auckland studios to perform a couple of brand new songs with long-time bandmate Stevie McQuinn on electric drums and Taylor Graves on keys.
