The National Party is insisting that a stand-alone Māori Health Authority will fail to reduce health inequities.
Labour is poised to establish the authority to address Māori health inequities as part of sweeping health reforms.
That's backed by the Cancer Society and other groups, but National says it would be better done by a strong Māori health directorate in the Health Ministry.
