Armed police are in place in a Mount Roskill street, but are yet to reveal details of the incident.
Reporter Katie Todd was at the scene on Glass Road, and saw two cordons around a hundred metre stretch of the street, and beyond, police guarding a house.
A blue police tent has also been put up in the middle of the street.
The police callouts database shows that they were called to a 'homicide' about nine-thirty last night, but none of the emergency services has since confirmed whether there is a fatality.
