Wednesday marks a year since the deadly eruption of Whakaari.
There were 47 people on the island when it blew just after 2pm on 9 December, 2019.
Twenty-two people were killed or later died of their injuries. One family is still coming to terms with their loss because the body of tour guide, Hayden Marshall-Inman, hasn't been found.
His brother, Mark Inman told reporter Charlotte Cook they will go out to the island today and share a beer in the waters that claimed him.
