More than 300 people gathered in Tauranga last night to hear how police plan to tackle rising gang violence.
Local mayors, the area commander and iwi leaders spoke at the event designed to reassure the public after a spate of events across the Bay of Plenty.
Ngai Te Rangi chief executive Paora Stanley says gang violence doesn't happen in a vacuum and is deeply embedded in the community.
