Former New Zealand National Swimming Coach Mark Bone says drug investigations into Chinese swimmer Sun Yang have been handled poorly.
Swimmers at the World Championship in South Korea have been protesting a Chinese swimmer's results by refusing to stand on the podium with him, or shake his hand.
The Chinese athlete Sun Yang was convicted of using a performing enhancing drug in 2014 - and was banned from swimming for three months.
Last year the international swimming federation - FINA - ran a another random off-season test but the delegation didn't have all of the correct accreditation so Sun Yang's vial of blood was destroyed with a hammer.
As a result of the 2018 controversy fellow competitors are snubbing him on the podium.
RNZ reporter Charlotte Cook spoke to Mark Bone.
