Privacy Commissioner discusses tenant information database

The Privacy Commissioner is looking into a database run by a landlords group that allows members to check whether prospective tenants have a history of criminal offending or running up debts. The South Canterbury Property Investors' Association has been collating court case information published in the Timaru Herald since 1993 - and has over 22,000 entries. The Privacy Commissioner is John Edwards, he talks to Guyon Espiner.
