It's taken a year and a half, but New Zealand Rugby has finally reached a commercial rights agreement with the US private equity firm, Silver Lake.
Silver Lake will invest $200 million in a new commercial entity, which will control all of the revenue-generating assets of New Zealand Rugby.
An additional $100 million will be offered to large New Zealand investment companies later this year.
New Zealand Rugby had initially struggled to get the Silver Lake deal over the line due to opposition from the Rugby Players Association -- but they have now come on board.
Māni Dunlop spoke to the Association's chief executive, Rob Nichol.
