Cabinet mulls replacing alert system, Māori leaders wary

The Government's considering the next steps in its pandemic response, including replacing alert levels with a so-called traffic light system once vaccination rates a certain level.

But Māori leaders have joined a growing chorus of opposition to the government's proposed system.

Ministers will also decide whether Auckland, parts of Waikato and Northland are safe to move out of level 3, or at least have some restrictions loosened.

RNZ's te manu korihi reporter Jamie Tahana talks to Mani Dunlop about why those Māori leaders are urging for more caution.
