This morning Michelle Boag resigned from being a National Party member after 47 years.

The Simplicity Charitable Trust, which receives fees from the Simplicity KiwiSaver and Investment Funds to donate to charities, has also accepted her resignation as a trustee.
Ms Boag declined to be interviewed, but the chair of the Trust, Peter Neilson, spoke to Māni Dunlop.
