Born in beautiful Te Anau, since age 5 tennis star today Lulu Sun has lived around the world. Formerly representing Switzerland, since 2024 she has again called New Zealand home.
Still only 24, Lulu Sun has a career-high singles world ranking of 39. You may recall her representing us in 2024 at the Paris Olympics, or at Wimbledon, reaching the quarterfinals. Only the second New Zealander to do so in the professional era. And right now, she's again in very fine form.
In late September Lulu won her biggest title to date the Jingshan WTA 125 tournament. in China. That was before reaching the finals of the Guangzhou Open two weeks ago..
It's secures her a place in the Australian Open main draw. But first, she will be at our own ASB Classic from January the fifth in Auckland.
And Next weekend is also a big date for Aotearoa tennis. New Zealand takes on Romania in The Billie Jean King Cup. Billed as the world's largest annual international women's team competition - its New Zealand’s first progress to the cup playoffs in more than thirty years. And Lulu Sun is due to lead the team
