Good Bitches are still baking across the country and the collective has just released its third cookbook Familiar Foods. But it's not the classics you may be imagining but rather family recipes; some of which have been in the family for generations. 43 recipes from 30 cultures make up the latest book with each translated to the language of origin and the backstory.
The collective started in 2014 in Wellington with just 15 volunteers. Today, it's operating in 38 locations from Whangarei to Invercargill with more than 3500 volunteers. The ethos is simple: volunteers bake treats in their own kitchens to give to organisations who work with those having a tough time. It's about spreading kindness and the belief that everyone deserves a treat. Editor Hannah Molloy speaks to Culture 101.
