On Saturday May 10 author, podcaster and self confessed Dracula tragic Noelle McCarthy will be giving a personal tour of the Victorian Gothic in the small Wairarapa town of Featherston.
It's for literary festival Booktown and, as well as having more book shops and a flasher literary festival than you'd think feasible, there is something a touch Victorian Gothic to Featherston. You'll even find here The Dickensian Bookshop.
As a broadcaster, Noelle McCarthy is no stranger to RNZ listeners and in 2023 her memoir Grand won her the EH McCormick Prize for General Non-Fiction at the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.
Her next memoir will, she confirmed, have a Victorian Gothic theme and is "nearly done".
