On the road between Christchurch and Queenstown, the town of Fairlie often gets called gateway to the Mackenzie Country,
In terms of arts visibility, it's home to a few notable public sculptures, including Sam Mahon's depiction of the legendary folk hero outlaw James MacKenzie and his dog and, out on the highway, a recent addition: a 14 metre tall pou by Ngāi Tahu artist Ross Hemara. But in terms of galleries, heritage and theatre there's much more besides.
For this week's Regional Wrap we are joined by Mackenzie Theatre Group member and Arts Coordinator at Mackenzie College Claire Dann.
Dann speaks to us just back from an Arts on Tour presentation this morning in Fairlie of travelling puppet show The Boy With Wings.
