Seoul: “My new favourite holiday destination. If you think NYC is the city that never sleeps, you've clearly never been to Seoul! This vibrant city blew me away-not just with its energy, but also with its incredible commitment to sustainability. Everywhere I went, there were nods to sustainable living and working, proving that a modern metropolis can also be a green one.”
Antarctica: “My favourite ‘less-visitable’ destination. Did you know my dad has a piedmont in Antarctica named after him? His work there highlighted just how unique and fragile this part of the world is. It's breathtaking, but without native citizens-other than penguins! It lacks the patriots it needs to protect it. Here's hoping a little plug inspires more Kiwis to think of Antarctica the way we do about Australia: as a not-too-distant relative. Fun fact: we're almost the same distance from Antarctica as we are from Australia!”
Cryotherapy: “My go-to therapy for stress. It's a totally different vibe from cold plunges (which, yes, I've tried). I've done them all-cold plunges, meditation, breathwork, red light therapy, journaling but cryo takes the cake. There's something about the intensity and efficiency that resets my stress like nothing else.”
John Marrs: “My favourite author for binge-worthy books. I've devoured The One, The Passengers, The Marriage Act, and The Family Experiment. If you're into those, you should absolutely check out Ben Elton-especially Blind Faith. Trust me, your bookshelf will thank you.”
BYD: My favourite car brand. Did you know their mission is to cool the earth by one degree? That's what sets them apart for me. They take accountability for the final outcome of their products-not just creating "more sustainable" options but addressing the bigger picture. Compare that to Tesla's mission to "accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy," which is great but doesn't necessarily reduce emissions overall. BYD's approach is next-level.”
Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson: “My favourite influencer. If you're as over the endless "get ready with me" or "unboxing" videos as I am, you need Neil on your radar. He's an astrophysicist who breaks down the science of our world with such clarity and wonder. His TikToks are a whole vibe-I'm completely hooked.”
Paint the Earth: “My favourite low-dopamine activity. In a world increasingly driven by short-term dopamine fixes, I've become completely obsessed with low-tech activities, and this one is at the top of my list. There's something deeply grounding about getting your hands dirty and creating something tangible. It's a gentle reminder to slow down, tune out the noise, and reconnect with creativity in its purest form. Highly recommend!”
