Plans to flush treated sewage water into Shotover river

The Queenstown Lakes District Council said it's being forced to use emergency powers to pump 12,000 cubic metres of effluent into the Shotover each day. At the moment the treated sewage is discharged onto land next to the river. Aotearoa Water Action committee member and district councillor, Niki Gladding, said the group has sent a letter to the council seeking more information. It's also considering seeking an injunction.
