340 cyber attacks on high value NZ targets in last year
There were more than 340 cyber attacks on high value New Zealand targets in a 12 month period according to the government's cyber security agency. A third of them were likely carried out by hackers working for foreign governments, a significant jump on the year before. Almost one in five of the attacks are thought to have been criminal or financially motivated. A total of 7122 cyber security incidents were recorded by the Government Communications Security Bureau or GCSB in the year ended July 2024. Deputy Director-General Cyber Security, Lisa Fong spoke to Lisa Owen.
