More delays in controversial 'Nauru 19' court case

It is now week two of the trial of 15 people charged over an anti government protest four and a half years ago in Nauru.

The group, initially dubbed the 'Nauru 19', are facing the court without legal representation which has been denied them by the government.

An Australian lawyer, Stephen Lawrence, who has previously worked for the 'Nauru 19', says the group is facing continuing delays in the court fulfilling its legal function.

He explained their plight to Don Wiseman.

Attempts by RNZ Pacific to have the Nauru justice department respond to the criticisms of the court have been unsuccessful.
