Soccer - Samoa

Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) says Samoa is set to face disciplinary action for pulling out of the OFC Under-19 Women's Championship 2025.

The event is scheduled to take place from 21 September to 4 October in Tahiti.

Samoa Football has cited financial reasons for its decision.

OFC said Samoa will face action according to OFC regulations.

It said rule states that any participating association that withdraws before the begining of competition will be liable for disciplinary action.

Rugby - Moana Pasifika

Moana Pasifka stalwart James Lay has announced he will retire from all professional rugby at the end of the current National Provincial Championship season.

Lay, who is playing for North Harbour, has been a senior player for Moana Pasifika for the last four years.

His decision will bring an an end to a career that started in 2016 and took him to two Rugby World Cups with Manu Samoa.

Moana Pasifika says Lay will be remembered his professionalism, hard work and positive energy he brought with him into the team every day.

Rugby League - Tonga

Tongan rugby league fans will have the chance to see their national team's stars in Nuku'alofa in October ahead of the Pacific Championships.

Tonga Rugy League said it will be the first time since 2019 the team, previously known as Mate Ma'a Tonga, had visited the country.

The team will be in Nuku'alofa from 14 to 18 October before they fly to Brisbane to meet Samoa on 26 October.

The league side will be in Tonga during the 150th anniversary of the Tongan constitution.

Netball - Fiji

Netball Fiji chief executive Vivian Koster has been elected as the Oceania regional director for the World Netball Board.

World Netball said Koster will sit on its Board for a term of four years.

Koster was also the first-ever CEO of Netball Fiji, a role she held from 2021 to December 2024.

She replaces the late former Oceania president, Wainikiti Bogidrau, who died earlier this year.
