Netball Fiji has been thrown into chaos after representatives of 15 of the country's 19 affiliates to the governing body walked out of a special general meeting (SGM) in Suva over the weekend.
Netball Fiji president RubyAnn Sorovaki-Bainimarama said the move is concerning, and she is seeking guidance on what steps she and her leadership team need to take to solve the impasse.
Local media reports say the 15 member association representatives had called for changes within the Netball Fiji leadership.
Sorovaki said the motions at the SGM were constitutional, but the leadership wanted the representatives to stay and discuss the way forward instead of leaving the meeting.
The SGM was called by Suva Netball Association president Alumeci Vosararawa-Sachs and heads of other associations affiliated with Netball Fiji.
"Without us (netball associations) they are nothing," Vosararawa-Sachs was quoted as saying by The Fiji Times.
She said on Saturday that one of the issues the associations wanted to discuss was the makeup of the Fiji Pearls, which is made up of only Suva-based players.
"We will not be affiliated [with Netball Fiji] under the leadership of RubyAnn Sorovaki-Bainimarama and the executives," she said.
"We will seek judicial advice by informing World Netball and also inform the Ministry of Justice to deregister Netball Fiji."
